Masoor Dal Fry (Red Lentil Curry) Recipe:

Indian Masoor Dal Fry RecipeIndian Masoor Dal Fry is Very easy to make and its very healthy dish. Masoor Dal tastes well with plane boiled rice. It also goes well with Roti; don't forget to put spoon of Ghee in bowl when serving Masoor Dal Fry for heavenly taste.

Servings - 4

Ingredients:
  • 1 cup Whole Masoor dal (Red Lentil)
  • 1 Onion chopped
  • 1 Tomato (pureed or chopped)
  • 4 cloves Garlic chopped
  • 1/2 tsp Ginger paste
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 2 chopped Green chillies
  • 5 Curry leaves
  • 1/2 tsp Garam masala
  • 1/2 tsp Red Chilli powder
  • Hing a pinch
  • 2 tbsp Butter (Ghee)
  • 1 tbsp Oil
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp Lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp Kasoori methi
  • Coriander finely chopped
Method:
  1. Soak the masoor dal for atleast 2 hrs.
  2. Pressure cook the dal with salt until 4 whistles.
  3. Heat butter(Ghee) and oil in a pan. Add cumin and mustard seeds.
  4. Once they sizzle add hing, ginger, garlic, green chillies, curry leaves.
  5. Saute for a min and add onions and Sauté till it turns golden brown.
  6. Add tomato puree. Mix well. Adjust salt
  7. Add Red chilli powder and garam masala. Cook till oil leaves the masala.
  8. Add boiled dal with lemon juice and kasoori methi
  9. Simmer on low heat for 10 mins
  10. Garnish with coriander leaves.
  11. Serve hot.
